Northamptonshire Property Information

Geography

Northamptonshire is a wonderfully picturesque county with a perfect balance between historic rural towns and villages, and well-developed urban areas. Because of its central location, Northamptonshire is blessed with stunning views of rolling hillsides and vast open fields, dissected by rivers and canals that make for wonderful outdoor excursions.

Cities and Towns

Northampton is a large market town with a rich history of industrial prosperity, based largely around shoemaking and steel. Over £75 million has recently been allocated to the town to further improve its amenities.  Other, more historic market towns to be found in Northamptonshire, include Brackley, Daventry and Towcester which are surrounded by numerous picturesque villages whereby the area is known locally as the ‘Golden Triangle’.

Communications

Trains – Excellent to London Euston from Northampton, Banbury or Milton Keynes.
Air – Close proximity to Luton Airport. Other London airports to the south of the county, with Birmingham International in easy reach to the west.
Road – Two main north-south motorways flank the region. The M40 and the M1 provide excellent road links.

Properties

The region, traditionally a prosperous agricultural area, is rich in well-kept villages and market towns, each with its fair share of elegant and substantial properties. Equally true is the fact that Northamptonshire is well stocked with grand houses as well as comfortable farm houses and charming cottages. However, large houses on the market tend to be in short supply and in high demand, so many never actually reach the open market but are transferred with no market awareness.

Economy

Traditionally, Northamptonshire is known for its shoemaking and steel industries. Recently though, the area has become known as the epicentre of global motor sport with a number of formula one teams based in the county, with the added close proximity to the international race tracks at Silverstone and Rockingham.
